I had started running, and was enjoying it and wanting to train for longer distances when I was diagnosed with
bilateral hip AVN. I with a number of orthopedic surgeons, who all told me that I can give up things like running for good, and also that I should go through surgery immediately. I finally met Dr Vijay Bose in Chennai and his perspective was a little different. Anyway, to cut a long story short, attempts to see if
this would heal on its own did not work and Dr Bose decided to do surgery on the left side in December 2012.
I was hoping for a BMHR hip resurfacing, but during the surgery the doctor found the damage to be too much and therefore did a full hip replacement using a delta motion device (Depuy).
