One year Later
« on: January 16, 2012, 04:02:58 AM »

I had a THR on my right side 2/3/2011 and left side 3/3/2011 and all has been great, what a relief from the everyday pain. The last week my right has had sharp pains in it, it does make it feel a little better when I exercise but hurts like hell about an hour later. It is all the suddon cold here in Michigan, I guess I am hoping that nothing is really wrong, but I realize that my left side does not hurt at all. Is there anyone out there that has had trouble a year later??

Winter is tough on arthritis and even replaced joints.  I am much stiffer in the winter and I live in southern Ohio.  Wish it were southern Florida!

Sometimes you develop muscle problems or even problems with ligaments.  Bursitis sometimes happens after hip are replaced.  I know of a handful of people with hip resurfacings that developed Bursitis.  I would back off a bit, ice the hip and relax.  If it continues, I would have your surgeon do an x-ray and make sure everything is OK.  Always good to talk to the doctor if there is a lot of pain involved.

Hopefully, you have just strained something and are not recovering quickly due to the winter.

Stay warm!

Much Much better, I exercise every day (or every other) and life is good, my hips do not bother me very often. About once a month I will do something just right and I will have some pain but it will be gone the next morning. The replacement of boths hips is God sent for what pain I was in before.
