hello,
I had THR 8 weeks ago and I know this is not a long time for redcovery period but I am having pain in my groin. How long will I have this pain. It's not constant but aggravating.I have done tremendously well since surgery,I walk 2 miles a day since week 3 and I will be getting back to gym next week (prior commitments ths week). My post -op apt. went well and Doc. thought I was doing great. I am only 42 and have put my life on hold because of the pain prior to surgery for 5 years and I am just looking forward to get moving again and living life to the fullest but I am a little nervous about going overboard and injuring myself. So Is it normal to have some groin pain to some extent and should I not worry about this pain as long as it doesnt increase?Any suggestions out there.I would love to hear whatever you throw at me.
A totally Hip Mom of 4

In my opiinon as a bi-lateral patient (total success so far) you are doing too much walking too soon.
2 miles a day in the third week is excessive.

You should take it very easy until week 6 then build up gradually.
I'm not surprised you have pain in your groin - the trauma that whole area has been through is immense. Give it time to recover.

Hi

When you have major surgery, you can try to push your recovery with extra PT and walking, etc - but you still have to listen to your body.  Your mind wishes for a quick recovery, but your body is in control.  When it hurts - don't do it.  You are still very early in your recovery and your body is talking to you - listen to it.  You will have plenty of time to do whatever you want after 6 months when your body has started to heal.  It actually takes a year or more for your body to completely heal.

Be patient and let your body do it's thing to heal before you do your thing to prove how active you can be.  You can do damage if you get to agressive.  Be careful for now.

Good Luck.
