Hi Pat and Everyone,
Well, it was a long wait for an appointment, but at last it arrived.
Oh dear, my hip is quite a mess.  It has a lot of issues.
I got booked for a THR on March 1!!
YIKES!!!!!!!!!
I really can't chicken out since I don't have much of a grace period left on this hip.
I think everything will go great!
On Thursday I met with the doctors asst. who is an FNP.  What a whiz!!!!
She also reviewed my xray and in more detail.
I am going to read back in  the messages....I think one lady gave an almost
day-by-day, or week-by-week account that was really good information.
Well, hope everyone is doing good....I am thinking of you all and sending you
positive energy as you are reading this!!! Wink Cool   Take care!!!
Will you all cheer for me please?!?!?!?

Hi Susy

Congratulations on getting a date for a new hip!  It will all be OK. Everyone gets nervous before their surgery.  Think about how great summer will be with a new hip that does not hurt!

Think about posting a journal for us to read while you recover.  The personal stories really help others and gives you something to do.  It is amazing how much you forget after 6 or 12 months.  It is interesting to look back and read about your own experiences too.

We will all keep you in our thoughts and prayers.  Keep in touch.

Excellent Idea to post the progression of things!
That would be very helpful to me...
I am getting mail from the hospital.
The more recent ones are about starting to take supplements of iron and folic acid
to bolster my blood!
There were some suggestions, but I just am not up to running around for it,
so ordered supplements online.   I was advised to start Vitamin D3 by
one of my online friends who's a doc, so I have that going.
I know it's important to try to eat well also!
I am dragging today and my old foot surgery is being painful
so I am trying to wear my brace.  sigh.  It helps some.

Thank you, Pat! If you were not here, this would be a lonelier process
and I wouldn't be as knowledgeable.   Thanks,  ttysoon,  susygray  Roll Eyes

Hi

Just keep up the positive thinking about what a great summer you are going to have with a new hip.  Don't let the negative and worry take over your life.  You made the decision to get out of pain and now you have a date.  You can't make your body heal faster - but having a positive attitude is definitely helpful pre op and post op.

Don't forget to take some stool softners during your hospital stay.  All the meds and anasthesia causes a lot of problems.  Most people start taking them right after surgery.  Mine did not work for a number of days - then they worked when I was on my 8 1/2 hour plane fight home! It's funny now 4 years later, but wasn't then!

Take it easy and keep in touch.  If you can do some upper body strengthening, that helps when you are on crutches.  You can do stand up push ups on the kitchen counter or lift heavy cans like weights.

Mostly just relax!

More excellent info, Pat!  Thank you!
I understand how meds can wreak havoc on the gut!
The doc's outstanding FNP told me that she had an arsenal of stuff for us
joint ppl.  I have looked it over and already suggested we not mess
with Celebrex, for one; or the Tylenol  (bad for migraines!)...
She also is in charge of ordering the orthopedic home hardware we need,
though I have a lot of that still from my poor sore hoof.

Oh oh---Lucy Marie Poodle has got to go!
Thanks again,  Talk with you soon.
My hip really is very bad shape and far beyond any repairs...lots of spurs plus
the cyst is bad...not dangerous, just notable and bad...
They like epidural anesthesia which I had with my poor sore hoof...

Gotta go.  Thank!!!  Yay!!!!!!!!!!
